Last year, I got the Clay call. Clay is a pretty inspirational friend of mine, a modern day Renaissance man, by which I mean he has his fingers in a number of pies and can pretty much turn his hand to most creative projects with a great flourish.
He was writing his second book of poetry and knowing that I was a little handy with the old camera, he asked me to collaborate and take some pics for the book. As I'm also a writer and Clay is the aforementioned Renaissance man we couldn't help but stray a little into each others territory, the upshot being that it's a collaboration in the true sense, a mix of both of our work.
We've got it all ready into our book, which is very exciting. It looks beautiful, in that black and white coffee shop book way. It's a bit dark in places but we like to think a little bit delicious too.
And next week, we get to read some of our poems at the Stratford Literary Festival - eeeeeek! It will be a cool crowd and I'm frankly a bit nervous, but what a great event it is with folks like Ruth Jones, Harry Hill and Wendy Cope.
I love the mix, words and pictures. Amen.
